AAOS 2023: Andrew J. Schoenfeld, MD, Discusses the Cost-Utility Benefits of Robotic Assistance for Adult Spinal Deformity Procedures

Schoenfeld, MD, professor of orthopaedic surgery and vice-chair of clinical academic affairs in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, describes his recent research on the cost-utility benefits of robotic assistance for adult spinal deformity procedures. According to his findings, robotic assistance is best reserved for complex surgeries. He found that, with complex adult deformity surgery, for example, robotic surgical assistance can be an effective, efficient and safe enhancement in the operating room.
